SPLODASCOPE

Splodascopes are thin liquid tanks, possibly with multi layers, and an air input creating bubbles. You can add oil, water, alcohol inside and color it with appropriate inks.

It’s interesting to use an adjustable pump so you could control the bubble flow. With water the bubbles are quicker than with oil, where it’s slower.

This effect was made in the 60’s/70’s and is more known for its use with slice projectors, in a vertical position. Although liquid light artists like Captain D. Lights experimented it in an horizontal position on Overhead projectors, giving it more live control options and even slower bubbles due to the position and gravity.

We found almost no tutorials online for OHP so we decided to make one, about a basic 30x30cm splodascope with 2x liquid layers and 3x adjustable air outputs.
